History Milling Technique Windmill Visits Tea Room True Loaf Bakery Organic Flours
  Proprietors: Mervin and Marie-Christine Austin

Mount Pleasant Windmill is a traditional four-sailed brick tower mill built in 1875 on the Lincoln Cliff overlooking Kirton-in-Lindsey with extensive views over the Trent Valley and the Wolds. It was wind powered until 1936 when the sails were removed.

It did not start milling by wind power again until fully renovated in 1991. We purchased the windmill in 2000 after months of scouring the country to find the ideal premises to start our Organic Bakery.

We are now grinding 10 different Pure Stoneground Organic Flours which we sell in our Tea Rooms and on the Internet. We only use the finest quality Organic Grown British Wheat. Why? Because we are truly committed to organic farming and secondly because there is absolutely no need for extra strong foreign wheat when traditional methods of milling are used.

Our flours are totally UNBLEACHED, UNTREATED with nothing added or removed. As we mill on a daily basis, we can guarantee their total freshness. Lastly, we had an amazing 18-ton wood-fired oven built next door and we bake all the cakes in our Tea Rooms, the scones etc.. as well as up to 20 different types of Organic Breads with our OWN Pure Stoneground Organic Flours. The quality of our flours is therefore paramount. We do not grind for the sheer pleasure of using a windmill, we grind for serious baking.
